FOOD SERVICE

We take a lot of pride in the quality of food we serve to our campers and staff. All meals, with the exception of barbecues and cookouts, are served cafeteria-style in our dining halls. Camp Cayuga has 2 dining halls - one on Junior Campus and the other on Teen Campus. The dining halls are centrally located on each campus. Campers sit together with their cabin counselors at assigned tables during meal times. Campers residing on Teen Campus have the privilege of "open seating" during lunch meals - which permits our teenagers to sit with whomever they wish!  All cooking and baking is done on our camp premises. Our Food Service Manager, Steve Fenton, is certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Bureau of Food Safety and has managed Cayuga's food service since 2003. Assisting Steve are 2 restaurant-trained chefs and 2 assistants who prepare three well-balanced, nutritious meals daily. Our kitchen staff also includes a team of dishwashers and potwashers for each dining hall.

CAMP MENU
The camp menu changes daily and rotates on a weekly basis. It is prepared by a licensed dietician and is designed to appeal to the taste buds of a camper on a normal diet. Our meats, fish, vegetables, and fruit are of the very best quality. Fruits and vegetables are served daily. While Cayuga is a nonsectarian camp, we do serve kosher-style meals and don't serve pork products and shelled seafood. In addition to the main course, there's always an alternative entrée available for campers who are picky eaters or vegetarians. No one ever leaves the dining hall hungry! Campers are encouraged to eat as much as they'd like!
BREAKFAST: Every breakfast meal includes a yogurt bar with a variety of toppings, fruit, and an assortment of cereals. In addition to the main entrée, steamed bagels & hard-boiled eggs are also served at each breakfast.
LUNCH: In addition to the main course, each lunch meal includes a pasta dish, a complete salad bar, peanut butter & jelly, assorted breads, and a dessert or snack item. The salad bar consists of all the standard items, including iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, broccoli, cucumbers, zucchini, red cabbage, alfalfa sprouts, baby corn, carrot sticks, celery sticks, cauliflower, cottage cheese, kidney beans, chick peas, beets, onions, peppers, radishes, cubed cheese, grated cheese, croutons, and assorted salad dressings (regular and low calorie). Items that are rotated on the salad bar include apple sauce, Chinese noodles, jello, chopped boiled eggs, potato salad, tuna salad, egg salad, and marinated vegetable salad.
DINNER: In addition to the main course, each dinner meal includes a hot pasta entrée alternative, hot vegetables, a complete salad bar, peanut butter & jelly, assorted breads, and dessert.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS
The daily standard menu caters to campers with a normal diet and a vegetarian diet. Please understand that it's not always possible for Cayuga to cater to the preferences of those individuals who have extreme dietary restrictions. Children who can't eat our standard menu items due to severe allergies may be better served at camps that are equipped to provide special individual meals. If your child's diet requires special meals/different foods, please contact us for further information.
