BACKPACKING TRIPS Backpacking Trips take place at Ricketts Glen State Park
which is located less than an hour from Cayuga. The Park boasts a series of wild,
free-flowing waterfalls, including “Ganoga Falls” that's 94 feet high!
Ricketts Glen is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. It's a fun 2-day trip
of hiking, sightseeing, and camping-out! Backpacking trips are optional and camper
participation is voluntary. All campers are eligible to attend as long as you're
deemed physically mature to hike the terrain. You're required to supply your own
sleeping bag, hiking boots & water canteen (or sports bottle). All other necessary
items & equipment (backpacks, energy snacks, food, etc.) are provided by Camp Cayuga.
Backpacking Trips are scheduled about once a week and are included in the tuition.
No advance registration form is required. If you want to go, you simply sign-up in
the morning on the day of the trip. For this summer’s backpacking trip dates,
go to the “Programs” sign and highlight “Calendar of Events”,
or click here.
GOLF COURSE TRIPS Trips to the local golf course for a round of golf (9 holes) are
scheduled about once a week. We play at Cricket Hill Golf Course, which
is located about 30 minutes from camp. One Cayuga staff member is
assigned to each foursome. Camp Cayuga supplies the golf clubs/bags and
golf balls. (You are permitted to bring your own golf clubs to camp.)
Golf trips are optional and incur an extra charge. All campers are
eligible to participate as long as you’re deemed qualified to play on a
public golf course. No advance registration form is required. You simply
sign-up in the morning on the day of the golf trip. For this summer’s
golf trip dates, go to the “Programs” sign and click-on “Calendar of
Events”, or click here. For trip fee
information, go to the “Enrollment
Information” sign and click-on “Dates & Fees”, or

CABIN LEAGUE TRIPS One of the highlights of Cayuga’s Trips Program is the Cabin League
Winner’s Trips. During the daily activity and evening activity programs,
cabin groups are awarded “cabin league points” for their spirit,
enthusiasm, and participation. At the end of each half-session, the
cabin group (one from each campus) with the most league points is
awarded this special trip! In the past, our Cabin League Winners have
enjoyed day-trips to: Cooperstown’s Baseball Hall of Fame, Costa’s
Family Fun Park, & White Water Rafting Trips, to name a few. Our Cabin
League Winners look forward to this trip! They’re fun trips and included
in the camp tuition. For trip dates this summer, go to the “Programs”
sign and click-on “Calendar of Events”, or
DELAWARE RIVER CANOE TRIPS Delaware River Canoe Trips operate independently of the daily activity
program. It’s a 1-day trip reserved for qualified campers. Canoe Trips
are scheduled about once every 10 days. Participants are required to
have passed Cayuga’s “deep water test” and “canoe test”, and viewed
Cayuga’s training video on river safety precautions. Delaware River
Trips are voluntary and included in the camp tuition. For this summer’s
canoe trip dates, go to the “Programs” sign and click-on “Calendar of
Events”, or click here.
ARENA FOOTBALL GAMES Pioneers Arena Football Games are played in Wachovia Arena, which is
located in Wilkes-Barre (about 1½ hr from Cayuga). The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Pioneers Football Team are in their 5th season and have a good chance at
this year’s AF2 Arena Cup title! Indoor football is loads of fun to
watch. This indoor sport is very similar to NFL football with a few
exceptions, such as: only 8 team players on the field; most players play
on both offense & defense; goal posts are 9 ft. wide (18½’ wide in NFL);
there’s four 15-minute quarters; and punting is illegal – the team must
go for 1st down or attempt to score. Since the Arena Football season
ends in July and most Pioneer games are “away” this summer, Cayuga’s
Trip Calendar includes only 1 football game in each half-session. Both
games will take place in the evening this summer (“night” games return
to camp at approximately 11:00pm). Campers entering 5th grade and higher
are eligible to attend. Trips to Arena Football games are voluntary and
incur an additional charge. The trip charge includes roundtrip
transportation, dinner meal at McDonald’s en-route to the game,
and stadium
admission. No
registration form is required for this optional program. Campers simply
sign-up at camp on the day of the football game. For this summer’s trip
dates, go to the “Programs” sign and click-on “Calendar of Events”, or
click here. For details about the trip fee, go to the “Enrollment
Information” sign and click-on “Dates & Fees”, or
PIZZA PARTY TRIPS Pizza Party Trips are reserved for our cabin inspection winners. At the
end of each week, the cleanest boy’s and girl’s cabin from each campus
is awarded a pizza party at the local pizzeria in Honesdale (10 minutes
from camp). Our campers enjoy this short trip to town (and it’s a great
motivator for keeping our cabins clean)! Pizza Party Trips are included
in the camp tuition. For this summer’s pizza party trip dates, go to the
“Programs” sign and click-on “Calendar of Events”, or
VISITING DAY MYSTERY TRIP Campers, who are not expecting visitors, are
required to attend the Visiting Day Mystery Trip. The only excused
children are those who have written parental permission to remain at
camp with an authorized adult. It's an action-packed full-day trip
that will keep you smiling. We depart camp before 10:00am (when
Visiting Day begins) and return to camp after 4:00pm (when Visiting Day
is over). This trip is not included in the camp tuition. The
trip fee includes roundtrip transportation, lunch meal, and admissions.
For trip fee information, go to the "Enrollment Information" sign and
click-on "Dates & Fees", or
click
here.
ALL CAMP TRIPS Prior to the arrival of our campers, all Cayuga staff members receive
training in off-camp trip procedures, general transportation safety
regulations, emergency accident & medical procedures, group management
procedures, and have familiarized themselves with Cayuga’s emergency
communication plan. Cayuga follows the trip guidelines set forth by the
American Camping Association (ACA) and has exceeded their standards on
every inspection. We are committed to the highest safety standards
established for the camping industry and are proud to operate an
accredited ACA camp. Safety is #1 at Camp Cayuga!
